I want it all!!!

PARIS FASHION WEEK - Balmain (fall 2012)

My favourite collection from PARIS. The Balmain Fall 2012 collection had it all with elaborate embellishment, solid colour, prints and great proportions. Pearls, crystals and velvet, women left the show feeling the luxury that the brand, Balmain epitomizes.

This collection left me wanting it all and more.

A weird trip into space

PARIS FASHION WEEK -  Balenciaga Fall 2012

With spacy slogans and imagery on sweatshirts in the recent Balenciaga Fall Collection, brought back memories of  childhood with cartoon characters and logos blasted across the front of sweat shirts. It may not be everyones cup of tea, but these sweatshirts have captured the attention of the fashion world.
The collection was a merging of textiles, fur, leather and hi-tech parachute material in challenging proportions, this fall collection came with many surprises.

COLOUR

COLOUR... the only word i can use to describe this collection of shots by Terry Richardson.

It's bold and fun at the same time. There is even some bananas!

I'm Possible

London Fashion Week - Mary Katrantzou (Fall 2012)

Extraordinary Prints were a given with any Mary Katrantzou runway show, but it was the combination of these new designs on different silhouettes which added to the drama of the fall collection. The detailled embellishement and embroideries enhanced the prints, making the garments so intense at times but utterly beautiful.

One of the finest runway collections at London Fashion Week, full of colour and with an audience watching on as Mary Katrantzou becomes a fashion legend.

Loving a Collaboration

The ability for a designer to join forces with retail chains to share their ideas and aesthetics can be a great thing. Only when it is done well!

Designers have the chance to show their creativity to a different market mixed with some of the usual clientele. Express their ideas with new concerns to meet the needs of the chains consumer. The price point is different and the quantity of units made per piece, higher then the usual hand crafted pieces. But the exposure is undeniably unmeasurable, with a variety of new consumers for the brand.

Some may say it lowers the designers integrity and branding but when it is done well, everyone hears about it.
